How Drag Has Driven Acceptance and Inclusion for NEPA’s LGBTQ Community – September 7, 2022 — Focus Journalism

Jacob Kelley is not just a Queer Inclusive Sex Educator–they are also an established Drag Queen who goes by the name of Trixy Valentine. Trixy has been performing since February 2014, with her first performance winning a local amateur contest. That was the start of her journey in learning that she has a voice, platform, and purpose of helping boost morale and motivate others with the power of drag. Trixy has established the meaning of how drag can create attention in rural areas to cultivate and raise awareness for the LGBTQA+ community. Drag is not just a stunning makeup, fierce costuming, or empowering performance; it is an energy and voice to speak up for the progression needed for education, equality, and awareness. It is a chance for people to experience the self love and worth they having in being authentic.

Trixy Valentine is a Drag Queen who is nonbinary and a force for change by living her fantasy so you can live your truth. Her accomplishments include creating drag shows, drag bingos, and drag brunches in rural PA through community building, establishing networks and relationships. She has performed, hosted, and presented at several universities such as Bloomsburg University, Kutztown University, Mansfield University, Susquehanna University, and Gonzaga University.
